Ngorongoro Caracal
This dashing looking cat may look perfectly tame but know that the Caracal is truly wild! Also called the Desert Lynx, this medium-sized wild cat is common in Africa, India and the steppes of Asia. “Caracal” means “black ears” in the Turkish language. Migration Two Cranes
Sandhill cranes migrate through Nebraska's Platte River Valley from mid-February to early April. The cranes use the valley as a stopover to rest and refuel before continuing their migration north to breed in Canada and Alaska.

Elk Daydream
September to October is Elk mating season in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Very rarely do bull Elk take a break from the exhausting action of the rut, but they will often find a flat "bench" on the side of a steep, timbered slope to rest during the slow part of the day.

Across the Snow Field
Western Bison are genetically prepared to withstand the bitter, wet cold of winter in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. A Bison's winter coat is so thick and insulating that when snow accumulated on its coat, it does not melt from the heat of the Bison's skin.
